The New Map of Africa
We decided to base our map off of ethnic groups, language, conflict and recourses. Our choice to base our map off of ethnic groups was because we believe that if we keep ethnic groups intact the creation of a government would be easier to evolve to because each group would already have a leader. Since each ethnic group already has a leader, those leaders can come together and decide on what they would like to do for government. To have a working government and civilization language is a key factor. Keeping ethnic groups within the same country will allow for Africa to maintain cultural cohesiveness. Since we are merging different ethnic groups together it is important for the majority of the people to speak the same language. If there is a language barrier between the people living in the same country then conflict is more likely to occur. The majority of conflict is caused by miscommunication, and if everyone is speaking a different language then there is a higher risk of miscommunication, therefore a higher risk of conflict.  With try to get rid of language barriers it will insure for the countries to peaceful and stable. Without a language barrier there will be less conflict, but since there are still current conflicts we tok that into consideration. We wanted to break up current conflict to insure that it did not happen again. The last important aspect we took into consideration was natural resources. We believe that if a country wants to thrive then they need something that everyone else wants. Africa is filled with all sorts of natural resources. We would like for each country to be able to have their own supply of a natural resource to decrease conflict and violence between countries. We also believe it is important for each country to have a natural resource as an economic benefit, so no country goes into debt.  With making sure each country has access to a natural resource it will facilitate development and prosperity, and encourage peace and stability between individual, and surrounding countries.

To insure that our goals for the new Africa were met we viewed many maps to help us come up with the best possible Africa. The most beneficial maps for us were the maps on ethnic groups, resources, language underground water, religion and vegetation. These maps were the maps most helpful in our creation of the new Africa. Of course with every good map comes a bad one. We did not find the Euro-Colonial holdings map helpful because we are trying to reverse the damage they did and make it a better country for that reason we did not believe that map was helpful. Those are the reasons we chose to base the new and improved Africa off of ethnic groups, language and recourses.
